Apprehensively, Comma opened her eyes to confront—Apostrophe! She was flying in the arms of Apostrophe!
Inexplicably, Apostrophe was even stronger than the sturdy Hyphen. Unlike Quotes, his sister, he could carry more than one hundred times his weight. He had swooped in from parts unknown or wherever it was he frequented.
“Grateful for the rescue,” Comma said graciously. “BUT WHERE ARE YOU TAKING ME?” she shouted.
“Back to Inner Grammar. This is dangerous territory, especially for someone like you, Comma.”
“When I need a Mark with a knight complex, I shall call you. Right now, I need to rescue my friend.”
“Suit yourself,” Apostrophe said as he made a U-turn in the air. As soon as he deposited Comma near the rock formation, he shot into the sky.
“Where are you going?” Comma asked, astounded. “You have to help me.”
Apostrophe did not bother to stop as he answered her. “Hey, you’re alive, aren’t you? What more do you want?”
